The Hylio ARES (HYL-150) is a high-capacity agricultural drone engineered to help commercial growers, custom applicators, and agricultural service providers cover more acres with greater efficiency and precision. Designed, engineered, and manufactured in Texas, USA, the ARES combines industry-leading payload capacity, intelligent automation, and NDAA-compliant hardware into a rugged platform built for demanding field conditions.
Whether you’re applying crop protection products, spreading granular materials, or managing large-scale agricultural operations, the ARES delivers exceptional performance with autonomous flight planning, precision application control, and Hylio’s powerful AgroSol Ground Control Software. Operators can manage a single aircraft or coordinate multiple drones simultaneously, helping maximize productivity while reducing labor and application costs.

The HYL-150 ARES was developed from more than a decade of real-world agricultural drone experience. Every component is designed with serviceability, reliability, and ease of operation in mind, allowing operators to spend less time maintaining equipment and more time covering acres.
Its modular design enables quick transitions between liquid spraying and granular spreading, giving growers the flexibility to tackle multiple crop management tasks using one aircraft. Intelligent sensors continuously monitor tank levels, payload weight, and application rates to ensure consistent, accurate coverage throughout every mission.
The ARES utilizes Hylio’s proprietary AgroSol Ground Control Software, providing an intuitive workflow from mission planning through application reporting. Operators can create treatment plans, monitor flight status in real time, and review as-applied maps after each mission.
With autonomous flight capabilities and intelligent route optimization, the aircraft automatically returns for refilling or battery replacement before resuming exactly where it left off, minimizing downtime and maximizing operational efficiency.

Quickly swap between hydraulic nozzle tips, rotary atomizers, and spreader configurations to tackle any job!

The ARES also offers rotary atomizers as an alternative spraying option, giving operators enhanced control over droplet size and application consistency with a flow rate of 0-8 GPM. This system is ideal for ultra-low volume applications, producing uniform droplets that improve coverage while minimizing drift.

The ARES drone stands out for its advanced spraying system, featuring hydraulic nozzle tips that deliver consistent pressure and superior droplet control for precise application. This technology allows for better canopy penetration and uniform coverage, even at higher flow rates, making it ideal for demanding agricultural operations.
By combining power with accuracy, the ARES ensures efficient chemical use while maximizing effectiveness across every acre.

The ARES can also be equipped with spreader configurations, expanding its capabilities beyond liquid applications to include dry materials like seed, fertilizer, and granular products. This setup allows for even distribution across large areas with adjustable flow rates, giving operators the flexibility to handle multiple types of fieldwork with a single platform.
With precise control and consistent coverage, the ARES makes it easy to tackle a wider range of agricultural tasks efficiently.
Designed for professional agricultural operations, the ARES incorporates multiple radar sensors that provide spherical obstacle detection and avoidance during both manual and autonomous flight. Aerospace-grade materials, redundant systems, and rugged construction ensure dependable performance throughout long spraying seasons.

Powered by Hylio’s intelligent 18S 30Ah LiPo battery, the ARES supports rapid battery swaps and fast charging to minimize downtime. The dual-channel 9,000W charger can recharge two batteries simultaneously in approximately 20–25 minutes under typical conditions, allowing operators to maintain continuous field operations.

The ARES utilizes an 18S 9KW LiPo Dual-Channel Charger capable of outputting 120A total; either 120A through one channel, or 60A per channel simultaneously. It can charge a pair of batteries simultaneously in approximately 20-25 minutes, or one battery alone in 10-12 minutes. Note that the charge rate is dependent on a variety of factors including voltage and capacity of the power source, temperature, and level of discharge.

Use Hylio’s AgroSol GCS to plan, monitor, and execute any crop treatment with one drone, or a whole swarm!
The Hylio ARES is built for agricultural professionals who need a dependable, high-capacity drone capable of handling demanding spraying and spreading operations. Combining autonomous flight, intelligent application control, modular payload systems, and U.S.-based engineering, the ARES helps growers improve efficiency, reduce input waste, and complete more work in less time.
Whether you’re expanding your custom application business or modernizing your farm’s precision agriculture program, the HYL-150 ARES delivers the performance, reliability, and scalability needed for today’s agricultural operations.

In the USA, you need special regulatory approval to apply chemicals with spray drones. This approvals process is slightly different if you are flying above or below 55lbs. The following document outlines the certifications required to legally use a spray drone, and how to get each certification. These licenses are not required to spray water for flight practice as long as the drone remains below 55lbs at all times.
Hylio helps customers by providing information about the process, as well as filing 44807 exemptions for those who purchase new drones. Aside from the 44807 exemptions, every other item on this list is the user’s responsibility to complete
In June of 2023, the FAA instituted a number of changes to their spray drone policies. These changes include speeding up the 137-certification process, as well as loosening restrictions on the over 55lb 44807 exemptions. In March 2024, the FAA allowed multi ship operation of aircraft over 55lbs. In June 2024, the FAA changed their requirements for 44807 approvals. This tab reflects all of these rule changes
1. Obtain Part 107 Drone Pilot License (~1 month)
Obtain State Pesticide Applicator License (~1 month) (Information varies by State)
Obtain Class 3 Airman’s Medical Certificate (~1 week)
All three items can be done at any time before or after aircraft is received
2. Receive aircraft from Hylio
3. Submit aircraft registration (1-3 months)
FAA typically will not allow registration without FAA Form 8050-2 – Aircraft Bill of Sale. This form is used by the FAA for legal transfer of ownership (the drone “pink slip”). Hylio cannot send the Bill of Sale ahead of the aircraft itself.
4. Submit Section 44807 Exemptions
Hylio submits on your behalf when requested. Typically approved in 4-8 months
5. Submit Part 137 Application Form 8710-3 (~2 weeks)
(Cannot submit 8710-3 until 107, Aircraft Registration, & 44807 are all complete)
6. Receive Part 137 Certificate > Self-Administer 137 Knowledge & Skills Test (Must keep up to date regarding equipment and personal)
∗ Part 107 expires 24 months
∗∗ Section 44807 Expires every 24 months, FAA expects you to apply for renewal 120 days before expiration. If you let it expire you’ll need to petition the FAA for a completely new exemption
∗∗∗ Part 137 does not expire but you must update it when you get different equipment and a change in personal
